1. Northbrook Nine: Sidewalk Sale, 8 a.m. Friday
Get your wagons out and walk or bike downtown to find deals galore from your favorite local stores and outside vendors at the Downtown Northbrook Sidewalk Sale. 2. Wilmette Summerfest, 10 a.m. Friday
This two-day fest features Wilmette’s largest sidewalk sale, food vendors, kids activities, live music and a beer garden. The fest is Friday and Saturday. Downtown Wilmette, Wilmette and Central avenues, Wilmette. Call 847-251-3800.
3. New Orleans in the Courtyard with Author Rita Leganski, 6:30 p.m. Friday
Author of “The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow” Rita Leganski joins attendees for this French Quarter-themed night. Leganski teaches a writing workshop at DePaul’s School for New Learning and is a recipient of the Arthur Weinberg Memorial Prize for a work of historical fiction. Lake Forest Book Store, 680 N. 4. Ride for AIDS Chicago, 5 a.m. Saturday
Ride for AIDS is a two-day cycling event produced by the Test Positive Aware Network to raise funds for AIDS prevention and care services in the Chicago area. Bikers ride from Evanston to Wisconsin and back over a two-day period. The ride begins at the Chandler-Newberger Center and ends at Ingraham Park. 5. Northbrook Nine: Art in the Park, 8 a.m. Saturday
Sponsored by the Village of Northbrook. Two days of wonderful art from more than 70 artists, as well as live music, food, children’s activities, a silent auction and more. Village Green, 1325 Shermer Road, Northbrook. Call 847-878-2134.
7. Fishing Frenzy, 10 a.m. Saturday
Bring a young person for a special day of fishing. The program piggybacks on the free Access to Fishing program and includes equipment, bait, experts on hand, casting workshops, giveaways and snacks. For ages 5-15. Lovelace Park, Gross Point Road and Thayer Street, Evanston.
8. Kick-Off Regatta, noon Saturday
Participate in challenging, hands-on races set up by beach staff. Races begin at noon and last approximately one hour. Boaters are invited to stay for social events following the race. Glencoe Beach, 160 Hazel Ave., Glencoe. Call 847-835-1185.
9. Fun with Cartoons, 2:30 p.m. Saturday

10. Family Camp Out, 5 p.m. Saturday
Registration opens at 5 p.m. Movie in the Park begins at dusk. Please stop by and register at the pavilion to receive campout rules and your campsite number and to sign form/waiver. 11. Model Sailboat Sunday, 10 a.m. Sunday

14. BHCBE Ravinia Outing, 3:30 p.m. Sunday
The Beth Hillel Congregation of Bnai Emunah will meet at the Ravinia Festival to see “Something Wonderful: An Evening of Broadway,” featuring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
