Biz Notes: Public Communications Inc. name Oettel principal

• Doug McAllister, president of Douglas Automotive recently announced the addition of accomplished Euro technician Robert Mazgaj to his growing Automotive Technology Team. The company was established in 1993 by Douglas and Janet McAllister and has two full service automotive service facilities, one in Barrington and another in Crystal Lake.

• Public Communications Inc. is pleased to welcome Pamela A. Oettel, 56, as chief financial/operations officer and a principal in the firm. Prior to joining PCI, Oettel was an operations leader at Xerox Corporation, the world’s leading enterprise for business process and document management. Oettel received her MBA from the University of Rochester and a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting from Calvin College. She lives in Oak Park and enjoys travel, gardening and cooking in her spare time.

• The former Metropolis Strategies transportation team of James C. LaBelle, a senior transportation and governmental affairs expert, and Sheena F. Frève, an experienced research and policy analyst, will join the staff at the Urban Transportation Center, a nationally-recognized research unit within the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Their appointment starts in mid-August. Frève was a research associate at the Boston Municipal Research Bureau, where key duties included drafting reports regarding financial status and management policies for the city. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Northeastern University and a Bachelor’s degree in English from Gordon College. Frève resides in Oak Park.
