St. Haralambos Big Greek Food Fest lives up to its name

A collective and hearty “Opa!” could be heard all weekend on July 18-20 in Niles as the 35th annual St. Haralambos Big Greek Food Fest rolled out its Hellenic culinary best. More than 15,000 attendees converged on the massive food tents serving up homemade specialties from hand-rolled dolmathes to the robust Greek side dish, otherwise known as lamb roasted on a spit.

Visitors were also invited inside the church to view scenic films of Greece, enjoy cooking classes and browse the tent market “agora” for hand-made jewelry and artwork throughout the three-day event. This year’s raffle prize was a 2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible.
