Hadley Gala raises $200,000+ for Low Vision Focus @ Hadley

The Woman’s Board of The Hadley School for the Blind recently held its annual Benefit at Michigan Shores Club in Wilmette. Nearly 200 guests attended this year’s gala, “All Eyes on Hadley” and raised over $200,000 for Hadley’s Low Vision Focus @ Hadley.

The event was chaired by co-chaired by members Jolene Wilson of Winnetka and Jeannie Ashmore of Kenilworth. Guests played casino games including poker, roulette and blackjack. The live auction was a four-night package for two couples at Links House at Royal Dornoch, a luxury country house hotel located in the Scottish Highlands donated by Todd and Liz Warnock of Winnetka, who are the proprietors of Links House.

Guests also participated in a Live Appeal to raise funds for Hadley’s Low Vision Focus @ Hadley. This new program is geared toward helping individuals with age-related vision loss manage their low vision through adaptive techniques that will also assist them in remaining independent in their home.

The Woman’s Board of The Hadley School for the Blind is the school’s single largest donor. Since its inception in 1953, the Woman’s Board has raised nearly four million dollars in contributions. In addition to the annual benefit, the Board also raises funds through its annual Braille Holiday Card Sale and other events throughout the year.
