Glenview’s St. David’s hosts memorable ‘Messiah’ performance

Sunday saw a special performance of Handel’s oratorio “Messiah” at St. David’s Episcopal Church.
The St. David’s Parish Choir was joined by a host of professional musicians from outside the parish and the performance was led by the director of music in Boston’s Waring School, Stephen Smith. Stephen Smith is the brother of St. David’s rector, the Rev. Graham Smith, who also played violin during the performance with his nephew, and Stephen’s son, Gabryel.
The choir was enhanced by the presence of professional soloists such as soprano Sian Davies, mezzo soprano Allison Hull, tenor nathaniel Adams and bass Benjamin LeClair joined the choir. Guest musicians, on the invitation of the Smiths, joined the choir and orchestra as well.
The concert was dedicated to the memory of the Rev. Graham’s and Stephen’s parents, Norman and Ann.
