Sixth-grade students at Highcrest Middle School will have a new assistant principal next school year, with the appointment of teacher Cindy Anderson to the position.
Anderson, who has taught at Highcrest since 2002 and currently teaches mathematics, succeeds current assistant principal Cassie Black, who is leaving at the end of this school year to a take a position outside the district.
Highcrest Principal Dave Palzet introduced Anderson to Wilmette District 39 School Board members Monday, saying that she has all of the qualities he and his search team were seeking.
Anderson originally taught science at the sixth-grade level before moving to math enrichment. She has served on the district’s curriculum review committee and on mathematics committees for both District 39 and for the New Trier High School District. She has served as a teacher mentor, and on the teacher evaluation committee, Palzet said.
Highcrest School has two assistant principals, one for the sixth grade, and one for the fifth grade.
