Newmakers: Mulhern named Hadley president

Lori Mulhern of Winnetka, formerly of Wilmette, has been named president of the Woman’s Board of The Hadley School for the Blind for 2012-14.
She has served on the Hadley Woman’s Board for eight years, the past two years as vice president. She co-chaired the board’s annual benefit in 2009.
As president, Mulhern plans to grow membership while finding new ways to engage current members. She also wants to explore opportunities for fundraising and outreach.
Mulhern is active on the boards for her children’s schools and athletic teams, such as the Wilmette Wings soccer team.
Gapen named to Avenues board
Clark Gapen of Winnetka has been named to the board of directors at Avenues to Independence, a non-profit organization providing services for adults with intellectual, physical and developmental disabilities.
Gapen has participated in several Avenues events throughout the years, but wanted to take a more active role in the organization. Gapen, who has a family member in the program, is a first vice president at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
Sackley returns from deployment
Army Pfc. Jonathan P. Sackley has returned to the United States after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sackley is an infantryman assigned to the 21st Infantry Regiment at Fort Wainwright, Ala. The private first class has served in the military for a year.
Sackley, a 2006 graduate of New Trier High School in Winnetka, is the son of Laurie Sackley of Libertyville.
