NILES — At 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26, Chabad & FREE of Niles synagogue and community center will mark its 25th anniversary of service in the Golf Mill area and surrounding suburbs, with a celebratory luncheon at Chabad Center of Glenview. 701 Harlem Ave., according to a news release.

“It is a double celebration of sorts as they are currently in middle of renovating and expanding their center, to better serve the needs of the community,” the release stated. “Another factor that is making this so special is that Chabad & FREE of Niles is currently the only Jewish entity in the area, while the other few Jewish synagogue’s and temples having closed and merging with other organization’s in suburbs further north. They are here to stay, to keep on growing, helping and servicing the needs of the community.”
