Woman, 84, crashes car into Glenview Post office

A woman, 84, is being treated for injuries at Glenbrook Hospital after she drove into the Glenview Post Office this morning, closing the front entrance.
Glenview police said the woman drove a 2001 Toyota Avalon through the east parking lot at about 8:40 a.m., crashing into the main entrance of the building, 1400 Patriot Blvd. Police said due to her condition, officers were unable to speak to her at the scene
She was transported to the hospital, 2100 Pfingsten Rd. for treatment and further evaluation.
A witness told police the woman’s car was driven north through the parking lot before it veered to the left. It appeared to accelerate, drove over a curb and short distance of sidewalk, and then struck the building, the wintess said.
As a result of the damage the main entry to the post office was closed. The Village of Glenview Building and Zoning Department was notified.
No one else was in the woman’s car and no one at the post office was injured.
