An ‘American Idol’ in Glenview
Remember Gina Glocksen from season six of American Idol? Want to hear her perform? Come listen to the “rocker chick” (as she was referred to on the show) as she takes center stage at Flight Restaurant and Wine Bar, singing a variety of her favorite songs and taking audience requests. Up for a fish fry?
Beer battered and baked fish, fried shrimp and clam strips are just some of the delicious dishes featured at The Café at the Glenview Park Golf Club’s weekly fish fry. Side dishes include mac and cheese, baked potatoes, salad and clam chowder. When: Seating starts at 4:30 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. Fridays through the summer (starts Friday). Officials from the Park District, the library, the Chamber of Commerce, Glenbrook Hospital, local schools and many other organizations will be on hand to answer questions and educate you! The event includes refreshments, visits from police and firefighters, voter registration, blood pressure checks and crafts for kids. And while you’re there, tour the new fitness center extension! Book signing and meet the author
Join author Cynthia Schaffer as she talks about her book, “Molly’s War: The Letter of a World War II WAC in Europe,” a story that chronicles her mother’s journey to war-torn Europe during World War II, where she served in the Women’s Army Corps. “Molly’s War” documents the human side of life during the war, which consists of fear, romance, exhaustion and leisure.
