Schakowsky serves well

We have lived in Glenview for over 50 years. Back in the 1950s, we had as our congressional representative a Republican conservative from Park Ridge. He never came close to agreeing with our Judeo-Christian values and beliefs. We started helping to change that when we began working for Abner Mikva and he became our congressional representative. He served us well, with no scandal detracting from his record.

We continued working for Sydney Yates, yet not with quite the enthusiasm. Then when I was on the board of the Lake Street Church Homeless Center in Evanston, Louise heard Jan Schakowsky speak. Wow! There was one smart woman who was not afraid to run against the rich status quo groups in Congress. She was always looking out for the disadvantaged, fighting against corporate lobby groups, and voting against involvement of the United States in “wars with no exit strategy.”

She has served us well for 12 years. Now she has more boundaries for her district: Northfield, Kenilworth, Wilmette, Winnekta, and Park Ridge.
