It takes a village

Like most parents we have experienced many emotions while parenting our children, but this year is prompting us to be more emotional and thus more reflective for a variety of reasons. It is also the reason we are compelled to share a thought or two with you; you being the family, friends, and even acquaintances that have walked alongside of us.

We believe it really does take a village to raise a child! So, if you were, or are; a grandparent, an aunt, an uncle, a cousin, a friend, the parent of a friend, a teacher, a tutor, a pastor, a youth group or Young Life leader, a neighbor, a coach, a librarian, a car pool partner, an employer, a staff person or administrator at school, a camp supervisor, even a local business owner; then “Thank You!”! Your influence does matter, no matter how small.

Some of you know that you made a significant impact on one or all of our children. Others may not even know you made an impact. Either way, we’re grateful to those of you who reinforced our values and were often the eyes and ears that kept watch and often encouraged our children along the way. We can’t be everywhere along the path it takes to raise a child, but with your help, we will be launching one into the college arena this month, and we are grateful for the “Village of Support” we received!

So whatever your role in helping our children discover their gifts, again we say, thank you!

May God bless each of you who is intentional about playing a positive and influential role in the life of a child; ours or someone else’s, because it does take a village to raise a child!
