Girls go all out to help restore lake

To celebrate Earth Month, Andreas and Ashley Hogue of Glenview, owners of the Andreas Hogue Salon in Northbrook, hosted their second annual Girls Night Out on April 30. Their goal was to raise funds to “protect and restore our great lakes with all monies raised going to The Alliance for the Great Lakes,” said Ashley. For more than 40 years, the Alliance has championed the world’s largest freshwater resource using policy, education and citizen involvement, according to greatlakes.org, the organization’s website. Steve Fischer, president of the Glenview Our Lady of Perpetual Help Men’s Club, was in his element. In the Playdium gym before Big Night III, a speakeasy fundraiser, was about to begin Feb. 22. Fischer, a 20-year parishioner and father of three, was clearly happy to be among volunteers who staged this speakeasy-themed fundraiser. And why wouldn’t he?
