The Maine South competitive dance team scored a 98.36 to earn a narrow victory over Stevenson in the Class 3A state final in Bloomington on Saturday.
Maine South scored a 95.98 in Friday’s preliminary round to place second behind Stevenson, but the Hawks slid into first place Saturday when Stevenson scored a 96.46.
Glenbrook South scored a 83.24 to finish fifth Saturday, while Mundelein earned a top-10 finish with a 76.24.
In the Class 2A state final, Lake Forest scored a 89.88 to place second behind Crystal Lake Central (90.32). Vernon Hills was fourth at 84.16, while Deerfield grabbed ninth with a 75.26.
