The Glenbrook South Jr. Titans 6th Grade Gold boys basketball feeder team had good reason to celebrate after capturing the Warren Jr. Blue Devils Tournament championship Sunday. The Jr. Titans won in dramatic fashion, defeating Maine South 28-26 at the buzzer.

Despite trailing by nine points at halftime and by as many as 12 points with less than seven minutes to play, the Jr. Titans rallied thanks to an aggressive full-court press that created turnovers and led to one big shot after another.

None, however, was bigger than Will King’s running right-handed jumper from just inside the 3-point line as time expired.

King, along with Jimmy McMahon, finished with six points in the win. Fellow starter Ryan O’Hara led the Jr. Titans with eight.

The Jr. Titans capped off their season with eight consecutive victories, five of which came over the course of 48 hours in Gurnee.

The Jr. Titans advanced to the tournament championship game by defeating Maine South, Lake Forest and Warren in pool play and then topping Glenbrook North in the semifinals. The Jr. Titans finished the season with a record of 23-4.
